Bernard Oboarekpe is a Global Consultant to the Oil and Gas Industry, specializing in the Upstream and Mid-Stream sectors of the industry.
Until recently, he was the Well Engineering Manager for Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, a position from which he voluntarily retired in 2017.
While in Shell, he held various technical and business management roles, such as Regional Discipline Manager for Wells (Sub Saharan Africa), Corporate Manager for Strategy, Business Planning, Economics and Budget, and Head of Wells (Drilling and Completions) Technology Development.
He has more than 30 years of cumulative work experience in the Oil and Gas mining industry covering Petroleum Engineering, Drilling, Corporate Strategy & Business, Supply Chain and Human Resource Management.
Before joining Shell, he was a Senior Engineer at the Ajaokuta Iron and Steel Company Limited. During that period, he obtained considerable experience in mining and steel technology from integrated steel plants in the former Soviet Union (USSR) and India.
Bernard is a respected and accomplished industry leader and a member of various industry societies such as the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Society of Chemical Engineers (NSCHE), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), and American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE). He was the 2014 Chairman of the Council of the Society of Petroleum Engineers in Nigeria. He is currently a member of the SPE Nigeria Board of Trustees (BOT).
He acquired his technical and business management and leadership qualifications from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, Nigeria; University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA; Institute of Management Development (IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland; and the University of Northampton, United Kingdom.
Bernard is a good people manager, business leader and investor. He is a director and member of boards of various companies.
