Amieye-Ofori Valentine Felix (PhD) – (Director)
Dr Felix has put in three decades of meritorious Oil and Gas industry work, of which about 23 years were in senior and executive management positions. A COREN Certified Engineer, Professional Petroleum Engineer, a Contract/Commercial and Management Executive, and an Economist, Dr Felix has held various senior and executive management positions in the Oil & Gas Industry: he was MD/CEO of Energia Limited, an Indigenous E&P Company from 2009-2018; Deputy Managing Director/Group Vice President Operations, Mart Resources Inc, a Canadian Oil and Gas Company, to oversee its investments in three Nigerian E&P Companies from 2008-2009 and was also Chief Petroleum Engineer, Petroleum Engineering Manager, Ag Technical Manager, and General Manager for Pan Ocean Oil Corporation from 1999-2007.
He is the Promoter of Energyhub, the Pioneer, Digital Market Place for the Oil and Gas and Energy Industry that provides seamless Business to Business Interactions amongst all stakeholders, from Industry regulators to Operators, Service Providers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and the Academia. He is also the Co-Promoter and Chairman of the African Oil and Gas Talent Summit, which hosts annual human capital summits for the oil and gas and energy industry that brings together experts and professionals and operatives to discuss critical issues affecting human capital and talent in the industry.
Dr Felix is also the Managing Director of Lowrie Refinery Limited, a Modular Refinery Company in Delta State. He is also Executive Consultant to the Group Chairman of Pan Ocean/Newcross Groups of E&P Companies where he provides technical/operational and strategic advice to the Group Chairman.
He has also in course of his career involved in the start-up of Upstream, Midstream and Downstream oil and gas companies in Nigeria: he participated in the start-up of Newcross Petroleum Limited, which formed into Platform’s Egboema (ex-Umutu-Field) in OML-38 in 2005, and as its Pioneer General Manager, worked to bring in first oil production in 2007. He also was key in the set-up and start-up of Ase River Transport Company which constructed 48 km of the export line from Egboema Field to Tie-in to Agip’s facilities at Kwale, to export the Kwale Marginal field cluster group in Delta State. He also led Pan Ocean’s Team to bid for and won OPL-275, which is now OML-147, during the 2007 Bid Rounds. Dr Felix was also between 2011 – 2018, a pioneer director that jointly found Umugini Pipeline Company, a joint company between Energia and Midwestern, that constructed a 53 km x 12 inches export pipeline to provide an alternative export route for the Kwale Marginal field cluster group through Forcados Terminal. He was also instrumental in the setup of Energia Refinery Limited, which secured a License to Establish (LTE) for a 10,000 bpsd Full Stream Refinery, and completed FEED, in preparation for Detail Engineering and Authorization to Construct (ATC) before his voluntary retirement from Energia in March 2018. As Deputy Managing Director/Group Vice President of Operations, Dr Felix also led the Mart Resources Team in collaboration with Midwestern Oil and Gas to bring in the Umusadege field’s first Oil production in April 2008 and laid the foundation for Midwestern growth through the successful drilling of Midwestern’s first development well in Umusadege field. He had his early industry career with SPDC, Port-Harcourt as a Production Technologist between 1990 – 1993, where he was the production technologist for gas lift, secondary recovery projects – water injection, and gas injection projects, and the Production Technologist for other assigned fields within the Eastern division of SPDC.
Dr Felix obtained his bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Port Harcourt and was the best graduating student with a 21 in 1987/88. He has also completed his course work in MSc in Petroleum Engineering with Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Financial Risk Management from Middlesex University, UK; MBA in International Business Management from Lagos State University, MSc in Economics from ESUT Business School, Enugu, and LLM in Business Law with Demontfort Law School, Leicester, UK.
Dr Felix also holds 2 PhD degrees, one in Credit Management from International University, Panama, in affiliation with London Postgraduate School of Credit Management, and the second in Trade and Development Finance from the International Institute of Trade and Development, University of Port- Harcourt. He is also a recipient of a Doctorate (Honoris Causa) Award in International Business Management from America Trinity University, California. Dr Felix has presented several papers and participated in panel discussions at both local and international oil and gas conferences.
He is a registered Engineer with COREN, a Member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), and a fellow of several professional bodies and institutions including the Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS), Emerald Energy Institute, University of Port-Harcourt, Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (ICEN), and Institute of Credit Administration of Nigeria, where he is also a Council Member of both Institutes. Dr Felix is also a Certified International Project Manager (CIPM) of the Global Academy of Finance and Management, USA, a Certified Fellow of the American Academy of Finance and Management, and a Member Nigerian Association of Energy Economists (NAEE), Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM); Energy Institute of UK, Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and Nigerian Gas Association (NGA). Finally, Dr Felix is a Minister of the Gospel in the Church of Jesus Christ, and the Host of the Monthly Breaking Bread Word Teaching Meeting. He is also an author and currently lives in Lagos, Nigeria with his wife, Mrs Victoria Felix, and their lovely children. He is aged 55 years and hails from Abonnema, Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
