Samson-Omera Aruwa (Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer)
His passion is to provide purposeful and professional leadership leading to increased productivity aimed at achieving set targets and expanding knowledge of business processes to develop entrepreneurial skills of small and Medium Scale (SME) operators. His formal education is in the field of Civil Engineering but has developed a passion for the Microfinance banking industry because he believes in helping to eradicate poverty through the provision of microloans to SMEs using the platform of Microfinance Banks.
He is exposed to diverse leadership and Microfinance training including CBN organized interim capacity building for operators of Microfinance banks in Nigeria. He worked with the Kogi State Ministry of Works and Housing as a Higher Technical Officer in Civil Engineering Department before joining Fortis Microfinance Bank Plc. in October 2007 as a pioneer staff and has worked in different Microfinance banks, namely Splendid MFB, Hedgeworth MFB, Atlas MFB at management, top management and executive management level.
He served as the Managing Director/CEO of Regent Microfinance Bank Limited before leaving to put on his entrepreneurial spirit in him to work which ultimately led to the establishment of Foretis Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited as the major promoter. He has been involved in the set-up of various Microfinance banks and cooperatives as a consultant. He is the major promoter of Foretis MCS Limited and served as the pioneer President/CEO of the institution before he was appointed the pioneer Managing Director/CEO of Firstmidas Microfinance Bank Limited.
He has developed expertise in Leadership, Inbound Methodology, Business Analytics, Management, Organizational set-up, Business Process Operations and Analysis, Financial Management, Service Quality, Change Management, Cost Monitoring and Risk Control. He brings on board his vast wealth of over 15 years of experience in the Microfinance banking sector, especially in business development, risk management, and people management. Business growth, customer service and professional relationship management to ensure professionalism and that performance targets are met with a keen eye on the bottom line and most importantly organization objectives and goals.
He is a CIBN certified Microfinance practitioner with numerous relevant Microfinance, banking, business, management and leadership related certifications and currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Financial Management and also studying for ACCA, he is the Managing Director/CEO of the bank responsible for the entire strategic operation and implementations of all board of directors’ strategies of the bank.
